Crochet Classes offered

Questions can be asked in any class at any time.


Crochet Beginner 1 -- This class starts with the basics of chain, single crochet, and if able, half double crochet.  Beginner pattern reading and gauge will be discussed.  Beginner mistakes will be discussed as well as different ways to work into the chain.








 Crochet Beginner 2 -- This class will review the first class and move on from there with the double crochet and triple crochet.  Pattern reading and gauge will again be discussed and how this class changes what was learned.




Crochet Beginner 3 -- This class will review the first 2 classes and add increases and decreases for each stitch.  Pattern reading and gauge will be added to as well as the expected changes due to the things learned in this class.

Crochet -- Shell Stitches --  We use basic stitches to create this basic texture and lace stitch.  Pattern reading and how to measure gauge are worked on.  There are 2 basic ways to make the shell and 2 basic ways to put them together.  A sample of each will be created.
Crochet -- Ripple Stitch -- Learn to create this classic zigzag pattern using basic stitches.  Pattern reading and gauge are discussed

 Crochet -- Popcorn, Clusters, Multi-stitch decreases -- Each has a place in crochet which will be discussed.  All are related and a sample of each will be created.
Crochet -- Tunisian Simple Stitch --  This special technique forms a fabric that is perfect for counted cross stitch or other embroidery to be done on.  This class learns how to read the pattern and measure gauge for this technique and how to make the edges not curl.

Crochet -- Tunisian Knit & Purl Stitch --  This class expands on the simple stitch to do crocheting that looks like knitting and purling.  Uses, pattern reading and gauge will be discussed.

Crochet -- Tunisian in the Round --  This class works in the round and the uses for this technique.  Pattern reading and gauge will be touched on.

Crochet -- Tunisian Colorwork -- Learn to add colors to each row rather than row by row.  Float containment, chart reading, pattern reading and gauge will be discussed.



Crochet -- Granny Squares --  These classic squares use stitches already learned and how they are created.  Gauge and pattern reading are discussed.  Color change is addressed.

Crochet -- Granny Square Alternatives --  This class builds on the first with different ways to add interest to the basic square, how to start with a circle, how to stack the solid parts, how to make a rectangle, how to make a hexagon and an octogon.  Large Grannies have some problems and how to correct them will be discussed.


 Crochet -- Post Stitch --  Use basic stitches to create texture and added interest.  Gauge will be featured as well as pattern reading.
 Crochet -- Cables 1 --  Pre-requisite Post Stitches class.  Learn to create cables that lean to the left in this class using post stitches and flat stitches.  Pattern reading will be featured.

Crochet -- Cables 2 -- Pre-requisite Cables 1.  Build on the previous class and learn to create right leaning cables using post stitches and flat stitches.  Pattern reading will be featured.

Crochet -- Colorwork -- Fair Isle --  This color work technique is a step above the basic stripe.  Learn to add colors in each row, how to handle floats and know right side from wrong side.  Pattern reading, chart reading and gauge will be featured.

Crochet -- Colorwork -- Intarsia --  This color work technique is about adding a large patch of color in a fabric without creating a patch to be sewn onto the fabric and also how to keep from having extra large floats to get caught in and also to not create Swiss cheese from our work.  Pattern reading, chart reading and gauge will be discussed.

 Crochet -- Colorwork -- Tapestry --  Using basic stitches and chart reading learn to contain your strands and add colors to each row.  Pattern reading and gauge are discussed as well as potential problems and fixes.


Crochet -- Aran -- Learn to add texture to the surface of your work to create a sweater or pillow, as just 2 examples.  Pre-requisite is post stitches.  Works well with Cables 1 and Cables 2 for Aran Crochet


Crochet -- Filet Crochet --  Two basic stitches create this lace.  Two variants are discussed and how they each adds to the look.  Chart reading and gauge are discussed.  Materials and tools are also discussed.

 Crochet -- Crochenit -- Learn to do this technique with a double ended hook.  It is similar to Tunisian simple stitch but different.  It also looks similar to garter stitch in knitting.
Crochet -- Hairpin Lace --  Use a loom and a basic stitch to create this intriguing lace.  Pattern reading and gauge will be discussed.



Crochet -- Crocodile Stitch -- Use basic stitches to create this scale like fabric.  Balance, pattern reading and gauge are discussed as well as uses for this

 Crochet -- Bavarian Stitch/Catherine Stitch -- Using a few basic stitches and how they are put together create a wonderful fabric.  Can be worked in the round or in rows. Pattern reading and gauge will be touched on.  Post Stitches class recommended but not necessary.

Crochet -- Solomon's Knot --  This very lacy stitch feature some new ways of using old basics.  Edge knots and main fabric knots will be learned.  Pattern reading and gauge are featured.
Crochet -- Corner to Corner -- Learn to crochet this fun fabric with basic stitches.  Works up quickly into any size pillow or afghan or even a scarf.  

Crochet -- Entrelac -- Row by Row --  Entrelac can also be easily worked row by row.  This technique usually has sawtooth edges.  Pattern reading and gauge measurement will be touched on.

Crochet -- Entrelac --  In the Round -- Entrelac can be worked in the round easily.  This technique will have sawtooth edges.  Flat edges will be discussed.  How to read the pattern and measure gauge will be discussed.



 Crochet -- Woven -- Learn to easily make plaids in your crochet fabric.  This technique uses basic stitches to create a fabulous fabric
 Crochet -- Pineapples --  This is a basic lace pattern.  Its creation will be discussed as well as pattern reading and gauge.



Crochet -- Amigurumi -- Learn to work in the round and create stuffed toys.  Pattern reading and gauge measurement are crucial to this.

Crochet -- Broomstick Lace -- Use a basic stitch and a new technique to create a unique lace.  Yes it did originally use a broomstick.  Pattern reading and gauge measurement are discussed.

Fingerless Mitts
Crochet -- Broomstick Lace in the Round -- Use the basic technique and learn to work in the round.  Pattern reading and gauge will be discussed.


Crochet -- Jacob's Ladder -- Use basic stitches to create this interesting texture in three different forms.  Learn to incorporate it into patterns for added interest.  Pattern reading is discussed.


Crochet -- Illusion Crochet -- Learn to create this optical illusion using two basic stitches.  Discuss how this technique can be used and what you might not want to use it for.  Learn to read the pattern for this and how to measure gauge.


Crochet -- Mile a Minute -- Learn to create these strips very fast using basic stitches.  Pattern reading and gauge are discussed

Knit / Crochet -- Joining Class -- Learn at least a dozen ways to join garments, afghan blocks, totes and purses and anything else you need to join

Crochet -- Sweater -- Learn to crochet a basic cardigan or pullover.  This class will be divided into 3 classes.  Class 1 gets the back and front(s) started.  Pattern reading are featured to be sure these pieces can be completed for homework.  Class 2 answers questions encountered, starts sleeves and reads through the pattern to answer as many questions as possible before homework of sleeves can be done.  Class 3 is answering questions, fixing mistakes and features finishing techniques.  With concentrated effort, student should leave class 3 with a finished sweater.


Crochet -- Socks -- Learn to make socks in crochet.

Crochet -- Novelty Yarns -- This class will run by demand to showcase new yarns as they come out and learn to use them.
