Discover Time to Knit and Discover Time to Crochet

I finally got all my preliminary ideas for creating my own classes down in some order.  One fourth of the new advanced techniques will be things that are not offered in the regular classes and are by request or things I think people will want to learn.  I am always open to new ideas for this part of the classes.

For Crochet, I will be offering:  Broomstick Lace, Filet Crochet, Tunisian Crochet, Hairpin Lace and Tapestry Crochet.  These are neat ideas and I will be looking for applications that will work for a variety of people.

For Knitting, I will be offering: Socks, parts 1 and 2, Double Knitting, Intarsia, and some smaller techniques like short rowing, kitchener stitch, and I-cords.  Some of these techniques have been requested and others are related in some way to the offered advanced classes.

Come join the fun.  Any ideas of things you want to learn?  Let me know.  You can email me mrsscubafish@yahoo.com

All of these classes will be at the Lebanon Michaels Store from 6:00 pm to 8:30pm.

Starting in January I will be adding the new classes and I have some creative ideas for the Discover Time classes.  More will be posted a little later.

For now, I hope everyone has had a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

It's that "Most Wonderful Time of the Year" again

Seems like we just had Halloween and now Thanksgiving is just a day or two away and time to think seriously about Christmas knitting or crocheting.  I have been busily knitting for presents.  Pictures will be posted after the recipients get them.

For those just starting their holiday crafting, Caron International has their 12 days of Christmas patterns started. http://www.caron.com/  The front page shows their Christmas Cactus Scarves pattern with the picture being the link.  You can sign up for email reception of news of the patterns as they come out.

These patterns work up easily and are done in worsted weight yarns.  If the Christmas colors or their choices are not to your taste or that of your intended recipient, there are a whole host of others to choose from.

My calendar of December classes will be posted later today after I get off work.

Pictures of the new classes we are offering

I can see a lot of ways to embellish what is being offered if it seems too plain.  And of course having a really cute baby in the picture never hurts.

New Classes and Techniques Available

Craft Yarn Council has given us new classes for both knitting and crocheting.

In the Discover Baby, there are two new patterns in crochet and two new patterns in knit.  I can't wait to try out these patterns.  I know a lot of babies that can use rattles, kimonos, and blankets both hooded and not.

In the Discover Throws and Wraps, there are two new patterns in crochet and one new knit pattern.  The mitered square throw can have so many applications and looks depending on what yarns you use.

In the Discover Gifts, there are two new patterns and techniques.  Both knit and crochet patterns use in the round techniques to make totes and cowls.  There is also a Fair Isle technique in one of the patterns.  They look like a lot of fun.

I will be adding these classes to the line up after the first of the year.
